The Academic Senate of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, meeting on Tuesday 14 October in the presence of a delegation from the wider School community, discussed the events currently unfolding in Palestine.

Following discussions initiated through a series of internal seminars and after constructive debate, the Senate is committed to making a concrete contribution to the peace process through specific actions within the scope of its institutional activities:

  • Support Palestinian researchers, a need that emerged during the seminar organised by the School, “Science in Palestine 2025”, on 9 October, which provided an opportunity for discussion on the role of science and research in the Palestinian territories and the future of universities in Palestine;
  • Promoting academic cooperation initiatives between the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies and Palestinian and Israeli universities, on the assumption that the University should be a place of dialogue and discussion;
  • Strengthening, in accordance with the Code of Ethics, internal processes of transparency and due diligence in research projects, in order to raise awareness within the School community of the ethical implications of scientific activity.
